Daphne Oram (1925-2003) was a British composer and electronic musician. She was one of the first British composers to work with an electronic sound, a pioneer of concrete music in the UK and a co-founder of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
She became a central figure in the evolution of the electronic music. She was the founder of the Oramics technique for creating electronic sounds using drawn sound - a sound recording made of images drawn directly on film or paper, which were then played back using a sound system.
